Me, Myself & Why Not?

:: Me ::

“How many hours have you wasted trying to think of something suitably witty, funny and original for your status on Facebook or Twitter?” ~ Generatus  I found this site as I was surfing along, so naturally I had to try it.  My status update, in the purple box above, is delightfully accurate.

“What’s happening?” ~ Twitter As some of you know already, I was not immediately taken with Twitter.  But instead of giving up I asked for some guidance, and many blogger/tweeters came forward to help me understand the medium.  Thank you.  Now I’m on Twitter just about every day tweeting along with the rest of them.  Learning lots.  Laughing often.  Loving much.  You can find me @spectacledbean.

:: Why Not? ::

“Yikes  Something went wrong! But don’t worry, we’re on it — and we’ll try to get it fixed as soon as we can.” ~ Pinterest  I’m enjoying my Pinterest account when it works.  Have you started one yet?  It’s addictive;  I was warned, but I jumped in any way.  Click here to see what I’ve accumulated so far.

So this is what I’ve been up to lately while online. How about you?  What cool things are you doing?

  1. Sad to say but “cool” and “Mike” are mutually exclusive. I hope to raft down a river in the Ozarks Monday. Is that cool?

    What is Pinterest? I live at the far left end of the Bell curve and only find out about stuff after the kool kids have ruined for the rest of us.

    If you need an assistant slacker strategist keep me in your thoughts. I’m willing to work for minimum wage but I’ll need health insurance.

  2. Mike, you are very cool if you’re rafting down a river.

    Pinterest is a kind of self-imposed scavenger hunt across the interwebs to find images of things that fit into the categories you have decided to fill with images. For me, it’s 80% goof off, 20% a place to save ideas for later projects.

    And about the assistant job, sorry– no health insurance. 😉

  3. I love those statuses!! I have a limited text plan and no smart phone, so twitter wouldn’t be the best idea for me. The internet is certainly a time-waster. That will have to change for me soon.

  4. As usual, you are very creative. Love your posts.

    I basically am non creative when it comes to the computer and technology in general! I only “check” email and FB once a day. I rarely post anything on FB and just glance at all the other postings of my “friends.”

    Whoo Hoo!! Keep it up Alice, and keep us informed of all the new gadgets and such!

  5. Margaret, you’re right that without a smart phone you’d never be able to do Twitter. I’m at home so it’s easy for me to jump on and off the computer. While you were at school that wouldn’t work out so well for you.

    And for the record I don’t have a smart phone either. Until it breaks I’m making do with my good [very] old flip phone.

    Beth, Pinterest is fun and easy. You’d love it. Give it a try.

  6. Ooh! I LOVE Pinterest. It makes me happy and it inspires me (and I then “inspire” Jason to build things like raised garden beds and a pergola). I tried Twitter, and I understand it, but I had to let it go. Now I just use it to find out spoilers for reality tv 🙂

  7. Stephanie, Pinterest makes me happy, too. I agree about getting good ideas– and it’s so random that I never know what I might find there. Which makes me like it all the more.
