Dull. Duller. Dullest.

One of the reasons that I don’t post to my blog every day is that I have nothing interesting to share with you, my gentle readers.  If something happens to me or if I have an epiphany of some sort, I post to my blog.  Easy, peasy– mac & cheesy.  And if nothing happens, then I say nothing.

It’s a simple plan, and under normal circumstances I wouldn’t bother you with a post about nothing.  BUT THESE ARE NOT NORMAL TIMES, my friends.  No, this is the month of November and I’ve committed before God and all of the internets that I’M GOING TO POST SOMETHING to my sweet little bloggy EVERY DAY OF THIS MONTH.

Hence, I give you this update re: my day thus far.

1) I had routine blood work done today.  I fasted for what turned out to be 14 hours beforehand.  Breakfast tasted very, very good.  {Dull}

2) I voted today.  I went all Nancy Reagan and just said NO.  Our state is run by a bunch of idiots right now, so not letting them do the things that they want to do is a good idea imho.  {Duller}

3)  I went to Lowe’s today.  I found, in one place, all the clip rings that we need to hang our new drapes in the eat-in part of our kitchen.  Let the spiffication begin.  {Dullest}

And that’s all I have to say now.  I’ve done what I’d said that I’d do— both in the blogosphere and in my real life. So LET’S CALL TODAY A WIN and move on to tomorrow where I know something interesting will happen.  I hope… if for nothing more than the sake of my blog posts.

  1. I’ve done 1 1/2 loads of laundry. I answered an email. I’ve played some Kindle games. I think I beat you out for dull. Posting is definitely a win!

  2. This post is definitely a win. I feel like my blog is dull most of the time, but I enjoy writing on it and it’s really helped me a lot in these latest troubled times. 🙂

  3. Margaret, I know what you mean. Sometimes just writing/posting about what has happened to me is all that I want from this blog. Other times, I want to gain a readership and start some conversations. I waver back and forth on the growing the blog issue.

  4. I’ve kept a journal since the 5th grade. There are lots of dull entries there! But it’s fun to go back and read them all every few years. They bring back lots of old memories.

  5. Hmmm. I imagine that you’re not giving yourself enough credit and that your stories are wonderful. But blogging would take time away from your painting and that is where you really shine– so I’ll let you pass on this blogging thing. 🙂

  6. I checked out your blog today since you left a comment on mine and hey, you’re right! One of the points of NaBloPoMo is to find new people to read so here I am reading your site too! Your posts are really great and it’s nice to read someone who is also from the “Midwest,” and looking at the pictures of your back deck re-do makes me think, “hey, it looks like home,” because just like you I never pictured living in surburbia, but here I am (I have a love/hate relationship with it)! Anyway, this post made me snort because that’s exactly how I feel…my day wasn’t that interesting and I seriously doubt anyone would ever want to read about all my mundane nonsense, but yet post I must! Good luck and nice to “meet” you! 🙂

  7. Kristen, thanks for stopping by. I know what you mean about the love/hate relationship with suburbia. Some days I love it, other days I want to go door-to-door and shake all of the dullness out of my neighbors! I look forward to reading more about you on your blog– even if it is only “mundane nonsense!”

    Laura, exactly. I feel like that, too. Seems like effort should be rewarded, doesn’t it?
