•  The article also featured this lovely photo of honey & honey-colored paint can lids…

•  But my favorite part of the article was a quote from Elaine Griffin, a NYC interior designer.  She said that one should…

“Think of it [honey] as beige after it has had a cocktail or after spending a day at the beach.”

•  Which means, I guess, that my house should be tipsy and sunburnt.  For me this sounds like an ideal day, but for my home?  Really?  That’s what it needs?!  Hmmm… who knew?  😉

  1. I just took the quiz and I’m Sea Glass apparently, cool greens with blue undertones rather than yellow. Based on what I’m not sure but I have to admit I am very drawn to that colour, it would suit my skin as well as my bedroom (which is the room I put into the quiz). Thanks for sharing this.

    • Polly, I love the color of Sea Glass. I’m surprised that wasn’t my color personality. Of course, did the description of your color include cocktails? Because my color, Honey, needs a few, apparently.

      • Ally, I’d never heard of sea glass before! Here is what it said. Sadly no mention of cocktails 😦 more wholesome naturalness, which is also fine for a bedroom.

        “Give beachy a sophisticated shake with a sea glass palette. These mellow shades of green have cool undertones (meaning they have hints of blue rather than yellow) and pair well with gray blues and light neutrals. Incorporate natural textures such as weathered wood and rattan to add warmth.”

          • Become a fan of Italy, hot baths and reading the same author ad infinitum, that should just about do it! What answers did you give? I’d be intrigued to know. My walls are currently honey coloured.

            • Polly, now that you mention it I chose the Italian cooking vacation with the girls as one of my answers. And I said that I liked mac & cheese on the comfort food question. Maybe that’s how I ended up with a Honey color personality.

              … Or this whole quiz is whacked and BHG is messing with our heads! 😉

            • Okay, that’s weird. Italy, Hot baths, and devouring an author were in my set, too. Along with mac n cheese. Maybe spice is in between honey and sea glass – or maybe they are just messing with our heads.

  2. Whacked is correct. Latte? I came up Latte? Do I look like a fool? Latte is code for beige!

    Ah, crap, I just looked at my living room walls and guess what? They could be described as the color Latte. Latte with extra milk but definitely Latte. (sigh)

    • la p, so you, the tea drinker, are Latte! I won’t start smiling about that. No I won’t.

      [And if it makes you feel any better when we remodeled our kitchen, the original color that we picked for the walls was Latte. We ended up not being able to use it because the granite that we wanted to go with it wasn’t available. But I really liked that color– and would of never called it beige. It had more character than that.]

    • Relyn, you know I’m getting the idea that this quiz might not be the most accurate. While I like the idea of Honey, my taste in home colors lean bit more toward khaki and gray and white. Nothing honey-ish about any of them.

  4. I’m Spice! Which one of the Spice Girls was that again?

    Earthy with a kick — this spice palette is internationally astute. The warm tones are inspired by exotic spices of globe-spanning origins. Paired with intense and pure blues and reds, the palette is decidedly Moroccan. For a look inspired by the other side of the Mediterranean, go Tuscan by adding accent hues of sage green.

    Actually, that sounds pretty reasonable to me. Lots of different colors, neutrals spiced up by brights. Given the budget, I’d probably dress that way, too.

    • Zazzy, I love the description of the Spice palette. I agree that the colors sound fun for a wardrobe as well as a home. So, you going to start re-doing your house in Spice?

  7. All of the rooms in my house are painted Sherwin Williams Antique White. http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6119-antique-white/

    That was the color when I bought the house and I haven’t seen a reason to change it.

    My house is small (1850 sq ft) but it has lots of windows (the south-facing wall in the living room is all windows) and I like how bright every room is.

    I wonder what that says about me?

    • Mike, we have used Antique White in a room or two along the way. It is very easy to live with. I think that your use of it throughout your house says that you’re very practical and that you have bad vision requiring bright rooms everywhere.

      [And did you notice on the link that the Hexadecimal Value is #E7DEC7? Just think, you could use it as one of the colors on your blog template. Wouldn’t that be special?]

      • Yes, I like to think I’m a very practical person. Yes, the older I get the dimmer my vision gets, particularly at night, so bright walls help illuminate the rooms. But no, it wouldn’t be special. My blog has gone through several color templates since 2003 but I’ve discovered that what I write is more important than how my blog looks.

        • I agree that content should trump template style. But sometimes looking around the blogosphere I have to wonder if that is the case, she says with a bit of snark in her voice.

          Now whether or not a color as neutral as Antique White on your template would enhance your blog is another discussion entirely. I kind of doubt it, but I felt compelled to point out the possibility to you. Should you feel the need to color-coordinate your entire life!

    • Melisa, only one person who has taken this quiz has thought the results were accurate. You are the first to have a Blush Pink personality. From what you’ve shown of your house on your blog, that doesn’t sound like you.

      And I know, don’t you love the idea that Honey is tipsy beige?!! *tee-hee*

    • Mike, your color personality is making me hungry. Caramel? Meringue like on a pie? Man-oh-man, my color personality was all sweet and inebriated– which is nice, of course– but coffee with dessert sounds better to me. Yum.
