I was dreading my trip to the grocery yesterday afternoon. I even tweeted this before I left.

However, once I got inside our Kroger, which was hopping, I realized that they had things well in hand. Lots of carts available. Shelves stocked. Oodles of samples. Extra cashiers. As well as…
a woman employee dressed in her usual uniform…
wearing a white silk sash a la Miss America & a glitzy rhinestone tiara on her head…
wandering around the store helping everyone find what they needed.

Who was this woman with the gracious demeanor, sincere smile, wave of a beauty pageant contestant and endless knowledge of the store?
As her sash clearly stated, she was: Miss Information. Of course!
Life is good when you go Krogering.

Cheri, yes it is. And our local store is quite nice, which makes life even better.

Oh, brilliant! I love that. I wonder if they ever realised!

Polly, they realized. Everyone– employees & most customers– were laughing about it. The only customer I saw who was not taken with this woman was a boy about 5 y.o. who just glared at her. Which was hilarious to me.

Did she send you to the wrong aisles or tell you it was okay to microwave your turkey?

Zazzy, no she didn’t. I guess in some ways her title was false advertising! 😉

BTW, I did what I plan to be my last trip to Walmart until after the first of the year. Pretty sure I can live without going back even if I have to pay more at the local store. I hate shopping this time of year.

I know what you mean. Too much chaos in the stores takes all the fun out of shopping. It’s a difficult time of year.

What a lovely idea! I went on Monday, and the crowds were manageable, but I do hate how they have so much product clogging up the aisles, so that two carts cannot pass each other. It annoys me on a regular shopping trip, but when they KNOW the store is going to be packed, it just seems like foolishness.

J, I know what you mean about extra displays every which way. They turn grocery shopping into a video game experience.

You were lucky! I am dreading my Friday morning Starbucks run. It’s on the mall property! Hopefully everyone will be shopping and not drinking.

I had to go to 2 grocery stores today. It went better than I thought. Btw I stumbled on your blog from J of Thinking About but I’m getting deja vu. Did you have another blog a few years ago? I may have followed you when I was blogging over at Southern Suburbia. If not, still enjoying reading your blog.

Joan, yes I’ve had a couple of blogs before this one. I like this one the best because I’ve let myself just talk about whatever I feel like babbling about. I’m happy that you’ve found me again. Welcome.

That is awesome! I hate going to the store the day before Thanksgiving, although I was there yesterday and it was OK. And if I can’t find something, I get VERY frustrated.

Margaret, I tell you Miss Information knew everything about the store. It was great. Plus she had a bubbly personality so people felt comfortable asking her questions. No frustrated customers in this store.
