Early Morning Light

“I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.”

Early the other morning a weird warm weather front came through our area.  It brought strong winds and unusual light with it.

When I took this photo I was trying to capture the almost full moon that was still visible in the early morning sky, but the rapidly moving clouds kept me from doing that.

Instead, I ended up with a photo of bare branches + purplish sky.  Not what I was trying to do, but beautiful nonetheless.

And perhaps a lesson to me: do your best, see where it goes & take joy in whatever you get!

  1. Beautiful picture! Love the lighter branches juxtaposed against the darker ones. I hope you didn’t have any damage from the high winds.

    • Beth, I liked those branches, too. I almost deleted my photos when I glanced at them and realized that I didn’t get my moon pic, but then I saw those branches and said: “hey, wait a minute… this is cool.”

  2. I like your final thought/lesson. Very true and kind of in the “want what you have” arena. Also, it’s a very striking photo. The feelings or impression it evokes are nothing like the story behind it – and I don’t suppose that’s a bad thing, either. Did that sky bring high winds and heavy storms or was it all a trick of the light?

    • Zazzy, I know what you mean about the photo being more “deep” than the story that goes with it. The sky brought high winds for about 15 minutes and then there was this unusual light. We had no damage, but lots of twigs & leaves were scattered all over the place.
