The Last Snow Of The Season… Or So I Imagine

On Wednesday we had what I imagine will be our last snow of the season.

It was the kind of snow that covers everything it touches with what appears to be wallpaper paste or cotton balls.   This snowfall didn’t slow things down like early and mid-winter snow does.  In fact, by mid-day Thursday the streets and sidewalks were clear.

But while it remained on the trees and bushes, the heavy snow made for some pretty photos.  There are times when the grayness of winter is quietly stunning.

  1. I switched sides from my anti-snow agenda during the last “storm.” We have had no measurable snow this winter. None. Maybe a half inch stuck to the porch rail a couple times but it didn’t even stick to the patio. All I wanted was one snow day. We’ve had snow here later than this, well into April in fact. But I don’t think it’s going to happen. Supposed to be almost 70 this afternoon.

    • Zazzy, I like how pretty snow can be. The prob w/ our winters is that the light we get varies greatly. So sometimes the snow is glorious to look at while other days the snow looks bleak. Overall, I tolerate snow/winter fairly well, as long as we have a few sunny days once in a while.

  2. You are a great photographer–such artsy pictures! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully, that will be the last snow for you:)

    • Thanks Polly. I leaned out of a second story bedroom window to get it! I became obsessed with finding a way to photograph it– which I’m sure is a symptom of cabin fever.

  3. It looks like we aren’t going to get any snow in Seattle this year. The sun is out and the bulbs are up. I like at least one snow fall a year but what are you gonna do? Pretty photos!

    • mrs. g., I like the snow… for a while. But then it becomes tiring, so I have to dream up ways to make it entertaining for me. Like taking artsy-fartsy photos of it.
