Things I Love Thursday [Spring Edition]

Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the geraniums, ‘ya know?

Lately, I’ve been feeling that I’m missing the simple things in my life.  That I’m focusing only on complex issues and confused people.  That I am way too much in my head and not enough in my heart.

And this behavior is bringing me down.

So, as an antidote to the complexities inherent in my modern life, I’ve decided that once per season I will do my version of a Things I Love Thursday post.  Here is my first edition.

  2. I love this, though I don’t what some of your items are (tralfaz, tetras, united states of tara, festina lenta). I’d google, but I need to run off to work in like…5 minutes ago.

    Yesterday I was loving the smell of rain. I love seeing my neigborhood transformed with bright leaves and flowers after so many months of gray and white. I love the curl of ferns as they first poke out of the ground. I love the sunlight filtering through the canopy of new leaves. And apparently I love rambling away in blog comments when I should be finding my shoes and packing my bag…

    • alejna, I didn’t mean to stump anyone with my “loves” but I can see how I have. So here are some explanations:

      Tralfaz was Astro’s name before he was adopted by the Jetsons.

      Tetris, the computer game, was autocorrected to “tetras” by the WP system. [I’ve fixed the spelling in the post.]

      The United States of Tara is a quirky, funny TV show that aired a few years ago. I’ve been watching it this Spring. It stars Toni Collette & John Corbett as wife & husband who deal with her multiple personalities.

      Festina lente is Latin for “make haste slowly.” It’s one of my favorite sayings.

  3. Love your blog! I love that Tim is finally home after being gone for so long…..my wonderful, creative, adult children, my old, faithful doggie, going to the movies, Disney World, knockout roses, warm weather, good friends, and so many more!!!!

    • winsomebella, it is rather addictive once you put your mind into gear and start the stream-of-consciousness engine going. I like your list– nice and outdoorsy.

      [Periwinkle is another good thing to add to my list. I like the flowers + the color.]

  5. Nice thought – speaking of being way too much in my head lately. I loved Tetris back on my original NES. I could get into a total one-with-the-block state and play for a really long time. Never really got the same thing with the computer version, maybe I just need an old style controller.

    I need to work on the stream of consciousness part and I plan to. Thanks!

    • Zazzy, sometimes looking at life from a new angle [what I love]— and in a new way [stream-of-consciousness]— makes for a fun blog post. I’ve got to keep it fresh around here, or I’ll give up.

  6. Leaving out the people in my life I have to say books, walking, learning, eating, sleeping, the smell of fresh cut grass, the sound of a baby laughing, the feel of water rushing past my body after diving into a swimming pool, and the colors in a rainbow.

    (And I like randomness on my car radio the same as you.)

  7. HA! It’s friday – but I still love the geranium. I have some just like that outside my front window – usually it’s so hot this time of year those poor flowers hide until Oct – but they are still blooming. So I’m loving the weather and the flowers hanging in there
    (And simple posts are perfect for summer!)

    • philosophermouse, I always like to have at least one pot of geraniums growing outside our front door. Some summers are too wet and they die, but this year, so far, we’ve had the perfect wet to sun ratio so my pretty flowers are blooming.

      I think that you nailed it with your last sentence. It’s the lightness of summer that has nudged me toward more light-hearted blogging ideas.

  10. oooh, sauv blanc and rhubarb! girl after my own heart! i would add…kittens…brie and apples…the scent of basil…the sound of my waterfall…cuddling…babyfeet…watching The West Wing on Netflix…the breeze fluttering my curtains…going barefoot outside…smelling lilies of the valley…time.
