But Tuesday Is My Favorite Day

I AWAKENED THIS MORNING thinking that today is Friday.  As it is Tuesday, I’m way off the mark with that thought.  I’m rather amused that I’m confused.  It’s like my subconscious is playing a fun little game with me called, “O Bean, Where Art Thou?”

I HAVE NO EXPLANATION for why this morning my mind skipped a few days ahead, but it did.  I like Tuesday so it’s not as if I’m trying to avoid anything.

In fact, once upon a time there was a meme going around that asked specifically which day of the week was your favorite.  My answer was Tuesday.  An answer, as I recall, that made many people question my sanity.

Nobody likes Tuesday, they told me.  I like Tuesday, I replied.

THEY SAID NOTHING MORE about my answer, but I was left with the distinct impression that I was a nobody, with no credibility at all, because I liked Tuesday .

People can be most peculiar.  N’est-ce pas?

And with that bit of wisdom, I’ll take my leave to fly away [so to speak].  Now that I’m awake, Tuesday is calling to me.  Catch up with you later, kids.

  1. Put the notion out of your head that you are a “nobody with no credibility at all.” Tuesday is a perfectly great day of the week. You’ve made it past Monday and are well on your way to “hump day.”
    Loved the music!! I remember trying to watch the movie on a flight and a guy sitting next to me jabbered the whole time. I’ll have to rent it sometime. Happy Tuesday!

  2. People just don’t appreciate Tuesday enough. In my mind, Tuesday afternoon is as far as you can get from (next) Monday morning. And no, I don’t care if that doesn’t make sense.

    • Hallelujah! Gotta love that soundtrack, don’t ‘ya? I think that enjoying gospel music has less to do with religion– and more to do with spirit. It just gets you going.

      • I’m not fond of the soggy bottom sound but I do love Alison Krause’s voice.

        I used to sing a lot. I realized I was Buddhist in college & backed away from the church and singing gospel 30 years ago. I backed away from singing in choirs all together about 9 years ago too. But now I know I spend too much time online. I have never stopped singing it’s just that no one could hear me but the hubby and the dogs, who like my voice… lol 😀

        Two weeks ago my friend talked me into joining a small informal choir and some of the music is uplifting gospel music. I love singing vocal harmonies and I have a 2 1/2 octave range so I can sing with the sopranos, altos and contraltos. The soprano part is easiest to sing.

        • You are gifted if you have that sort of range. I hope that you find it fun be part of musical group again.

          I never could sing worth a lick. But as a child and teen I was in all manor of church choirs– more because I was reliable and showed up on time wearing the proscribed outfit, less because I added much to the actual music!

          We all contribute in the ways that we can, don’t we? 😉

  4. I love that movie, and the music from it.

    I am not sure I even have a favorite day of the week. So much of it depends on my schedule, which changes semester to semester. (Even though I’m long finished with my courses, I work with professors whose schedules are still tied to classes.)

    I’m not keen on Mondays, which is hardly original. In my case, it’s because I have to get the kids going in the morning after the relative calm of the weekend. We always struggle with mornings, and all of it is intensified on Mondays. Tuesdays, though, are fine. In fact, I can see how they hold some promise for what might be accomplished during the week, without the birth pains of Monday.

    • alejna, Z-D & I quote the movie often. It’s one of my favorites.

      I like Tuesday for all the reasons that you mention above. They’re not as jarring as Mondays, but let me still hold on to the hope that I’ll accomplish something by Friday!

      On Wednesday or Thursday I’m beginning to feel overwhelmed, unsure about what’s going to happen next. But on Tuesday I still have my act together– and the illusion that it all might work out as planned.

  5. I adore that movie, although Tuesday isn’t my favorite day. I think it’s Thursday, although I’m giving 4 sets of quizzes this Thursday, so it will NOT be my best day. 🙂

    • Margaret, I can understand your affection for Thursday. It’s my second favorite day of the week. Much good happens on that day, of course. Unless, I guess, you’re a student in one of your French classes who is being forced to take a quiz! 😉

  6. Tuesdays are perfectly wonderful days. Remember the Moody Blues song, Tuesday Afternoon?

    Also, LOVE O Brother, Where Art Thou? Esp loved the songs you linked. And, a wonderful quote, “We thought….you was….a TOAD!”

    • J, I’d completely forgotten about this Moody Blues song! Didn’t even have to read beyond those two words that you wrote above– and it came flooding into my head.

      Also, adore that quote. It’s one that is applicable to so many situations, isn’t it?

  7. Also, I think I could get behind religion if it were just music and incense and stained glass windows and beautiful buildings. Throw in some compassion and do-gooding while you’re at it, but keep the judginess (sp?) out. It’s the dogma that gets me.

    • J, you’ve expressed what I’ve heard so many people say about organized religion. It’s the supercilious, nosy attitude of some uber-Christians that keep people away– me included. What you’ve described above would make for a fruitful, joyful, supportive congregation that, to my way of thinking, would be in keeping with the message of the Gospel.

  8. Continuing the theme of Tuesday related songs: Ruby Tuesday – The Stones. Must look up the film. My parents in law have a place called Delmar and I often wondered what the word was. Maybe I will find the answer in the film.

      If you enjoy absurd humor [and remember studying The Odyssey in school], then you’ll adore “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” It’s one of those movies that is filled with quotable lines and hilarious situations.

      Trust me, this movie is “bona fided.” 😉
