Today I’m doing Throwback Thursday. This means that I’m posting a photo of myself taken a long time ago. And that you, my gentle readers, will probably get a laugh out of it.
Enjoy!

Oh, what a terrific picture! I love it. What a happy kid.

nance, isn’t it something? I found it while looking for some other photos. I don’t remember a thing about this day, except that I got Pixie. Judging from the dress, it might have been Easter?

Here are the lyrics to the Pixie & Dixie Theme Song. I meant to add them above, but forgot.
Pixie, Dixie, deedle-lee-dum, are the best of friends.
Pixie, Dixie, deedle-lee-dum, are friends to the end.
Pixie, Dixie, deedle-lee-dum, sometimes enjoy a spat,
Pixie, Dixie, deedle-lee-dum, with Mr. Jinks the cat.

As a child, I wore a lot of dresses. We had to wear uniforms for grade school and in high school we wore skirts and dresses. Pants weren’t allowed back then. I think it’s so wonderful to see you in a wonderful dress for maybe Easter! Easter was one of my favorites because it meant summer was on its way. Lovely picture!

kate, at that point in my life I only wore dresses for Sunday School, so I’m figuring that this photo was taken on a Sunday. And because my parents didn’t just give me things for no reason, I’m thinking that it might have been a holiday. All I know for sure is that I got Pixie, who I still have [somewhere] in this house.

OH boy do I remember you like this!!!! You haven’t changed have you?

Becky, of course not. I still wear dresses just like this one!
You didn’t happen to be there on the day that this was taken, did you? Knowing my father and all his camera equipment I’m sure that it was quite the photo shoot.

You were so adorable and you looked so very happy. I remember Pixie and Dixie but I don’t remember ever knowing the name of the cat. Hmm.
It looks very much like Easter to me.

Zazzy, I lurved this cartoon when I was a girl. What I thought that was so funny is that Pixie and Dixie would shout “hello” to the cat by saying: “Hi, Jinks.” And then high jinks would ensue on the cartoon. Still makes me giggle.

Boy! This is definitely a throwback!! What a cutie you were (still are). Love, love, love the dress!! And there’s just something about black and white photos. It’s like you can see so many more details:)

Beth, I thought that you’d like this one. I bet that you had the same dress! There’s a good chance that all the little girls in town had the same dress because there were so few places to shop.
I agree about b&w photos. They leave just enough to the imagination while revealing details that otherwise would be missed.

I love the photo. But I have to say, the stuffed animal is a little crazy! But I had some just like that when I was a kid. Stuffed animals just had a different look back in the day! By the way, I found you by way of Views and Mews by Coffee Kat!

Woman in the Middle, the photo was taken back when taking any photo was a Big Deal. Wish I could remember more about it, but I don’t. And I agree that Pixie is a stuffed toy like no other. Especially the ones today.
Thanks for stopping by. Glad to meet you.

Awww, what a sweet photo. Love Pixie but where is his blue bow-tie?

la p, he had one when I got him, but it fell off almost immediately. That I remember. At some point my mother made another one out of blue felt that she sewed on him.
If I could find where I put Pixie in this house, I could show you that he still has her version of it today. But I’ll be doggone if I know where he is.

Margaret, I think that I must have been happy here. I adored Pixie.
As for my hair, it was fly-away and sort of wavy like in this photo until I hit puberty. Then it went thick and curly. Now it’s just a unpredictable mess.

I remember Pixie and Dixie too – weren’t they a spin off from another cartoon? Or am I misremembering. Lovely photo. You look over the moon that day.

Polly, I wonder if you’re right? Maybe Pixie and Dixie were a spin-off. I don’t know. And yes, I was over the moon that day [great phrase, btw]. Or at least I assume I was from the photo. I really don’t remember any of it.

I think you are both remembering that Pixie and Dixie were on The Huckleberry Hound Show. What I did not remember was that Yogi Bear got his start on Huckleberry Hound, too.

la p, you’ve found the answer! I remember Yogi, but I don’t remember The Huckleberry Hound Show. I guess that I must have seen it because I remember Pixie and Dixie… but apparently a blue hound dog didn’t appeal to me. Just cute meeces and the cat who lived with them.

Oh, those special Sunday School dresses – little tucks, puffed sleeves, and full skirts. It is a perfect picture.
Huckleberry Hound! One of my favorites.

philmouse, thank you. I loved my Sunday School dresses which I always wore with white anklets and black patent leather mary janes. And little white cotton gloves, of course! I was such a stylista back then. 😉
