Remember that M*A*S*H episode in which the 4077th bugs out?  And each character’s true nuttiness is revealed by what they hold dear as the camp is forced to move elsewhere?

Of course you do.  It’s a classic.

Well, gentle readers, looking at my schedule and commitments for the next 2 months I’ve come to realize that I’m going to be on the verge of quiet hysteria busy with decorating & dinners & shopping & parties & travel & events & gifts.

Too busy.  For an introvert like me.  [Please refer to the chart.]

Considering that I keep this blog just for the heck of it, I’ve decided to take a blogging break.  To wit, I’m going to bug out and pretend to be a holiday-obsessed, Christmas-music-loving, party girl who adores all the glitz, booze and calories associated with this time of year remain calm-ish.

Happy Happy Joy Joy, everyone.  I’ll see you next year.

  1. Enjoy your well-deserved break, Bean. I am looking forward to sharing a Grape Nehi with you . . .for the next forty years or so.

  2. Looking forward to your return! Happy Christmas, merry New Year. About your comment on Zazzy’s blog – I might start a new one next year, but for now, I’m taking it easy like you. x

  3. Calm and peaceful holiday seasons are always my goal. Funny how we stick NaBloPoMo in the middle of all of it. I hope that you have a good time and feel refreshed when the new year comes. Will miss you.

    • Zazzy, I like calm and peaceful, too. But this year there’s going to be lots of carrying on and such like, which I suspect could turn me into a frazzled and chaotic mess if I’m not careful. It’s that introvert thing, you know?

    • evilsquirrel13, oh I’ll be around the blogosphere from time-to-time. Leaving comments. Lurking like a squirrel under an oak tree, waiting for an acorn to fall down in front of me. Just biding my time, doing as little as possible while still claiming to be a blogger.

  4. Hello dearest blogger. I am here to nominate you for the one lovely blog award. I love reading everything you write. Although you are taking a break, I hope this serves as a nice thing to come back to. Look forward to reading from you again soon! Enjoy your holidays!

    • Anne, thanks. I appreciate the compliments. For the most part I like keeping a blog, but I know my limits. After all this holiday stuff is out of the way, I’ll get back to writing about my usual flapdoodle and twaddle. And I hope that you enjoy your holidays, too.

  5. Calm is the trendy new coool! Great plan to shed what you can. If it ain’t fun then don’t do it…and when you do return, you’ll be all refreshed and full of stories. Enjoy and see ya when you get back in the saddle…or chair….or whatever. Happy to you!

    • philmouse, thanks for the good advice. I think that the change of routine, as well as the holiday chaos, should set me up with endless stories for this blog. Enjoy all the holidays. See ‘ya later.

  6. I don’t blame you a bit! We like to blog because we enjoy writing and sharing, but if that becomes a stress, it takes all the joy out of it. That’s why I always blog on my own schedule and when I feel like it. 🙂

    • Margaret, you’re right. I like to write and I like to connect, but if I’m going to do the holiday thing right, then I’ll have no energy left for blogging. Plus, I think that it might be fun to consume blog content for awhile instead of creating it. See how the other half lives.

    • Thanks Maria. You’re so right about the holidays– and this year I’m going to make it my goal not to go crazy during them. Space + relaxation is exactly what I need, so I’m going to make it so.

    • Thanks J. I hope to survive this year’s holiday season, which is going to be a doozy for us, by spending my spare moments not doing anything. Maybe the balance between busyness and slackerness will keep me sane. Guess we’ll find out in January.

  7. Oh, I missed this! I was realizing I hadn’t heard from you in a while, so checked in. Hope all goes well for your holiday season! As for me, I’m trying to continue posting every day. (That almost came out “positing every day.” That would be a different sort of blogging than I’ve been doing…)
