In Which Fuzzy The Squirrel Seems To Blame Me For The Snow

IT’S NOT LIKE I HAVE ANY control over the weather.

However, during this last cold snap I’ve gotten the distinct impression that Fuzzy the Squirrel, our resident goofball + star of many posts, has begun to blame me for the snowfall and wants me to suffer because of it.

I say this because he’s been consistently unwilling to get with the blogging program and permit me the honor of photographing him.  He knows that he is a favorite feature on The Spectacled Bean.

Idiot squirrel.

THIS NEW BEHAVIOR IS PECULIAR BECAUSE Fuzzy is by nature a show-off who in the past has adored having his photo taken.

SO WHEN I NOTICED HIM CLIMBING Tree #3479 to his home the other day, I hesitated about grabbing my camera.  I wondered if he’d be in the mood for a photo-op, but I decided to try, figuring that Fuzzy couldn’t hold out much longer.

He needs attention.

Thus it is with great pleasure, and the implied blessing of a narcissistic squirrel, that I give you my latest photograph of Fuzzy the Squirrel, titled: Rodent With Bad Attitude In Winter Our Dear Friend Enjoying Winter.

    • evilsquirrel13, I am trying to be charitable here, but Fuzzy seems to be giving me the cold shoulder. Of course, a Squirrel Snuggie might be the perfect solution. I suppose they sell those on Amazon?

  1. They’re sick of it, too! We’ve been leaving food out for them on the front porch, much to the delight of our kitties, who watch from the windows. They look miserably grateful.

    • nance, you are a good person to feed the squirrels, even if it is really just a way to entertain the cats. Sounds like a win-win for all of God’s little creatures.

  2. We call it cat TV here. I have bird feeders that the squirrels can’t access (yes, really!) but I put seed on the ground so the cats have something close to watch. Sometimes the squirrels come right up to the sliding glass door and give the evil eye to the cats. In the end, the cats win. After all they aren’t freezing their nuts off. (of course I chopped Jake’s nuts off…)

  3. A muli-billion dollar communications system to share infromation and bring the World closer – all so we can talk about “Squirrel Underpants.” If there is intelligent life out there, they may have monitored our communication and decided to move on.

    • Zen-Den, this blog tackles the important issues. So if other intergalactic beings do not understand the need for conversations about Squirrel unmentionables, then it’s just as well that they moved on.

    • Margaret, he is beautiful, isn’t he? I suspect that you’re right about his attitude during winter. Heaven knows that he’s a playful [translate that annoying] little critter during summer.

  4. So glad you got to capture a winter picture of Fuzzy. We’ve missed him! I haven’t even seen our squirrels lately. They are true Southerners and must be hibernating somewhere. We even had a dusting of snow yesterday. Squirrel Snuggies and underpants just crack me up!

    • Beth, it took some doing but I finally snapped at least one decent photo of that darned squirrel. Just the idea of squirrel garments of any sort make me giggle, too. So grown up. Me?
