At the risk of sounding hippy dippy I’ll share with you that morning & evening I like to go outside into the garden with a beverage and commune with nature.

I enjoy the aloneness of it. Tossing my thoughts aside. Being in the moment. Enjoying the colors of the flora. Trippy.

But this Spring I’ve come to realize that often when I’m outside doing my Earth Mother thing, I am not alone. There be more than flora, there be fauna, too.

And this fauna doesn’t seem to give a flying fig through a donut hole that I’m out there too. You’d think that they would care, wouldn’t ‘ya?

But they don’t seem to groove on the idea that this is my garden– and not theirs. They just keep on keeping on like they belong out there. Far out man. 😉
Groovy pictures, Bean! Maybe these creatures are thinking that you have invaded their space:) But it’s cool that you are all sharing this beautiful nature in peace!

I’m sure that you’re right, Beth. I’m on their turf. But the thing is: I don’t see any of them contributing to the mortgage payment, so whose land is this really? 😉

All you need now is the tunes from the vintage Snow White playing softly in the background there.
Maybe they critters didn’t read the fine print at closing and thought they were contributing by trimming plants, and fertilizing lawn?

philmouse, brilliant explanation. That must be it. These critters are the lawn crew. Silly of me not to see that.

Maybe they just really enjoy your company. They know a cool soul when they spot one!

Carrie, well now that’s a thought! I am a bean, after all. And we are known for being cool. 😉

Today must be the day. Your post is the third on morning and evening nature walks complete with critters. I do it too. Maybe it’s also the time of year. Babies everywhere!

Kate, I agree. It is the time of year when all the little animals of the forest come out to play. And I get such a kick out of them that I keep snapping photos. 😉

With our outdoor (sometimes) cat old and toothless (and mostly indoor) the chipmunks are having a field day. They love the pond and the bushes to hide. They are so quick (but not as quick as Jake was in his heyday) and fun to watch.

We have a few chipmunks, but we also have a couple of large snakes that slither up here from the creek. I’m seeing fewer chipmunks as the weeks pass. I don’t know for sure, but… a correlation perhaps?

What a wonderful variety of critters! They make us feel that we are just a part of the greater scheme of things. And part of nature ourselves.

Margaret, yes they do. And so many of them this Spring! I’m taking it as a good thing.

I love your fauna – and your photographs of them. We don’t get many deer out here but I love the critters we do have. I hear there are bears in the area but I have never seen one.

Zazzy, thank you. I’m sure there are more critters around here, but bears are rare. We get coyotes & foxes some years, but you won’t find me trying to take their pics!

Great photos (especially the one of the deer). There’s nothing lovelier than having a cup of tea in the morning and watching all of wildlife out in the garden. Makes one feel like Snow White at times!

Letizia, I agree. It’s enjoyable to be an observer. Odd how the deer didn’t seem worried about me at all. Must of been my Earth Mother vibe.

As long as everyone refrains from daisy nibbling and poop piling, and stays outside at all times, all of God’s creatures are welcome. What’s the odds of THAT happening?

Zen-Den, yes, I know. These critters are lovely in photos, but the realities are less lovely. Bothersome, even. BUT THAT’S NOT THE THEME OF MY POST, says the hippy dippy Earth Mother.
