L Is For Lime, Like It Or Not

… is good advice that I’ve never taken literally because I don’t like to drink shots of tequila.

If I might be allowed to combine these ingredients with some simple syrup into a margarita on the rocks, then I’m right there with you chilling out about life, being cool about things.

Which is what I take this slang saying to mean.

OF COURSE if we happen to make it two margaritas, then I’m singing a song about a lime.

AND IF by chance we make it three margaritas?  I’m wearing a sombrero because like Hobbes says: “What fun is it being ‘cool’ if you can’t wear a sombrero!”

  4. I’m a tequila screwdriver kind of gal. I’ve had many arguments over the years with bartenders who were just sure I meant a tequila sunrise. Ah, no. I have done tequila shots a long, long time ago but I’d never heard that particular piece of advice. I will keep it in mind. You are doing amazingly well on your theme Ms. Bean. Very clever!

    • Zazzy, I’ve never heard of that drink, but I understand what you’re asking for. I wouldn’t argue with you! No tequila shots for me. I took one once… and it was awful… but at least I can say I tried it.

  5. Lovely tune to hum while I dress the baby! LOL
    I do not like tequila. Yucko. My dad always had some on hand with the worm in it for grossing out his wife’s friends when they entertained. I remember as a child staring into that bottle. Never will I partake!

  10. Paula, I think it’s the idea of this saying that’s important. So what if we don’t do shots? I’m sure a frozen margarita with salt will work just the same!

  11. I did a few (hundred) shots of tequila in college ~> my 30’s.

    Now I don’t do shots but I do still laugh out loud at Calvin & Hobbes cartoons. Thanks!

    • Margaret, once in a while I’ll have one margarita, but they’re too intensely flavored for me. But I like the idea behind this saying, so for purposes of this post, I’ll pretend to adore margaritas! 😉
