On A Plantation In The Stableyard With A Camera [For The Win]

We’ve been on vacation.  To some interesting places.  That I promise to tell you about later.

But right now I’m too busy in real life to do much more here than share a few stableyard animal photos with you, my gentle readers.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  Well if that’s the case, then here are 7000 words, plus a few more, for you.

Goose, northbound, waddling away from lady with camera while shaking south end tail feathers at her.

Little lamb whose cuteness stole the whole farm show.

    • Janis, that was the meanest looking sheep I’ve ever seen. He looked like he’d eat me, given half a chance. I didn’t smooch the water buffalo. An opportunity missed?

  5. If I had another go at this life I would have a small farm with critters. Too old now but my aunt and uncle did that at age 50. It was the best place ever! Hope your vacay was wonderful!

    • Carrie, I just wanted to hug that little lambie to pieces. Of course, mama sheep would have torn me to pieces if I tried, but… so. cute. And I agree, lambs make for a better morning than the news. Always.

  7. Oh, baby lambs. (Which I suppose is a redundancy.) They are so very, very endearing. I am a mass of seething, activated hormones right now. All I want to do is hold it and murmur MommyTalk at it. Ridiculous.

    • What?! You were in SC?? And we missed you? Love the pictures. The water buffalo’s face is one in a million. I actually got to hold a baby lamb last week in Ireland, where sheep may outnumber the residents! It was the sweetest moment in the trip. Nice post!

  12. Lovely pictures! I am not so fond of animals but on the screen like this they are some fascinating creatures. Went on a walk with the hubs this morning and actually stopped to watch a squirrel bury a nut. I have NEVER stopped long enough or had the opportunity to watch that. Wish I had taken my phone out to record it but I was so caught in the moment that I lost the chance. Thanks for sharing these and look forward to your vacation adventure stories (I’m sure you have them). I’ve been busy with the A to Z but noticed you weren’t around as well! Welcome back.

    • Janet, these animals were photogenic and not at all aggressive. Friendly, but on the other side of fences… except for that darned old sheep. He was a grouchy dude just wandering around the plantation.

      We have lots of squirrels around here, so I get to watch them bury nuts and steal veggies from gardens often. Glad you got the chance to see a squirrel do his thing.

  15. I find observing animals very therapeutic. They are so natural and unconcerned about all the crap that we worry about. 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful trip, and I can’t wait to hear about it!
