My Own Version Of Lady & The Tramp

I almost feel bad about this.

I mean, it’s never my intention for my actions to cause any creature to get upset.  I’m not one to stir the pot just for the heck of it.  I’m one to glue the puzzle pieces together to make things whole.

However…

Our neighbor’s dog, who looks just like Lady from the Disney movie,  Lady and the Tramp, is a pretty cocker spaniel with impeccable manners.  She usually sits on her front sidewalk, watchful and quiet;  or patrols up and down her driveway, checking out the suburban scene around her house.

With nary a woof-woof.

Sadly, she has not taken this extreme weather in stride.  In fact, more than once this winter she has barked her displeasure with me as I trudge diagonally across our snow-covered front yard to get to our mailbox.  Granted as I’m doing this I’m wearing a huge parka, hat and scarf, so maybe she thinks that I don’t belong over here.

That I’m a tramp of sorts.

All I know is that she makes it clear to me that she believes that I’m breaking decorum by not using our [currently ice-covered] concrete sidewalk and driveway.  This makes her uneasy, I sense.  Worried.  And in need of telling everyone within a five block radius about my lack of good manners as evidenced by my tramping through the snow.

Who knew that this breed of dog could be so loud?

But Tuesday Is My Favorite Day

I AWAKENED THIS MORNING thinking that today is Friday.  As it is Tuesday, I’m way off the mark with that thought.  I’m rather amused that I’m confused.  It’s like my subconscious is playing a fun little game with me called, “O Bean, Where Art Thou?”

I HAVE NO EXPLANATION for why this morning my mind skipped a few days ahead, but it did.  I like Tuesday so it’s not as if I’m trying to avoid anything.

In fact, once upon a time there was a meme going around that asked specifically which day of the week was your favorite.  My answer was Tuesday.  An answer, as I recall, that made many people question my sanity.

Nobody likes Tuesday, they told me.  I like Tuesday, I replied.

THEY SAID NOTHING MORE about my answer, but I was left with the distinct impression that I was a nobody, with no credibility at all, because I liked Tuesday .

People can be most peculiar.  N’est-ce pas?

And with that bit of wisdom, I’ll take my leave to fly away [so to speak].  Now that I’m awake, Tuesday is calling to me.  Catch up with you later, kids.

The Fine Art Of Decorating With Booze

It’s good to have friends.

It’s good to be up for doing something that your friend, who may or may not be a bit of a decorating nut, wants to do.

It’s good to keep an open mind while doing that which your friend, who is on to a good idea even if it is a bit whacked, decides that she needs help doing.

So with the foregoing in mind, here’s what my friend and I did.

• • •

We went to the region’s largest liquor store [an acre+] and we window-shopped for bottles of booze that would look good in my friend’s house on a silver tray placed on a dark wooden table, by the brick fireplace in the living room, with the walls painted dark barn red.

Keep in mind that even though we were in the store for an hour, we did not buy any liquor.  Instead, we picked up pretty bottles of booze*, put them in our cart, and then occasionally stopped to create a pretend display of the various bottles so that we could see how they looked grouped together.

From the above experience I can confirm for you that if you are in a liquor store and want the employee’s to pay attention to you, do what we did.  They were attentive to our every move;  asking us frequently if we needed some help.  Eyeballing us like we were inept shoplifters in training.

Not that I blame the employees: who in their right mind goes window shopping for booze?  Answer: two middle-aged woman with a penchant for decorating and the desire to make things look hospitable.

Who else would?
