This is that thing, my gentle readers, when I tell you stuff and don’t make a story of it. Here we go.
• • •
ONE
I think that Creating My Dragon Name by following the how-to from pine.and.birch is the most perfectly silly thing I’ve done this month.
I am: Ylla the Tired, Hoarder of Toast and Potted Ferns.
To figure out your dragon name do this: it’s { your first name spelled backward } the { how you’re feeling now } hoarder of { the last thing you ate } and { an object to the right of where you’re sitting }. That’s it, easy peasy mac and cheesy.
TWO
I think that Happy Face, a podcast, is worth listening to and will chill you to your bones.
It’s the story of serial killer Keith Jesperson, known as the Happy Face killer, told by his daughter, Melissa Moore. She’s an adult now, but as a child she lived with/had contact with her father– while he was on his killing spree. Her examination of what was going on then and its impact on her now is fascinating.
And horrifying.
THREE
I think that The Good Cop is quietly hilarious, but will admit that there’s not much to it.
It’s a light TV comedy that’s reminiscent of [but nowhere near as wonderful as] Monk or Psych. The plots aren’t complex, but honestly, the chemistry between Tony Danza as the ex-con father and Josh Groban as the perfectionist cop, well– those two are a hoot to watch together. Plus the supporting cast is great.

Questions of the Day
What’s your dragon name? Listen to any good podcasts lately? Do you admit to watching brain candy TV shows?
• • •
P.S. This will be my last blog post of 2018. It’s been a heck of a weird year; if you ask me, it’s one that has gone too long. I’m sick of it.
Soooo I’m going to take a short blogging break by ending 2018 early and starting next year late, which is to say I’ll be back here sometime in mid-January 2019. Until then, my gentle readers…
Be safe. Be happy. Be. 🐝
Well, I guess I must admit to watching and chuckling at Lethal Weapon on TV. No judging please. 🙂 I understand kicking 2018 to the curb and taking a nice break before coming back. Have a good one and we’ll see you on the flip side. 🙂

Judy, I’ll never judge someone for watching brain candy TV. If Lethal Weapon, that I didn’t know was a TV show, is your thing, then enjoy. Yep, I’m over 2018. Ready for a new year…

Finish out the holiday season in style Ally Bean and have a lovely break!
I’m not a podcast person and my TV watching runs typically to drama type things, although I will admit to getting hooked on the new version of Sabrina on Netflix. Now all dark and creepy (not Sabrina) but the concept itself.
How about this for a name: Bed the congested, hoarder of shrimp and painters tape… ????

Deb, your dragon name rocks! I stand in awe of you, Bed the congested, hoarder of shrimp and painters tape.
I’m not familiar with this. Are you talking about Sabrina, a teenage witch? With a new darker concept? And if so, is there still Salem the cat? I loved his snark.

Yes, a new remake of the old Sabrina the Teenage Witch– https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7569592/
Salem is indeed a part of this new version, although he isn’t speaking. Funny thing, I never had any interest or need to watch the old one, but this one hooked me in!

I’ll look for this show. It sounds interesting and just the brain candy I need to pass the time… when I have some extra to pass. Thanks.

Salem has had a couple of lines, but not like he did in the original show. Also, I’ve read that the actress playing Sabrina actually has a fear of (or at least really dislikes) cats. This gave them another excuse not to try too hard to try to recreate the iconic character. And yes, it is DARK.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Allie P, I enjoyed Salem in the original show. I always think of him sitting around with an emory board filing his claws. Loved that. I’m going to check out this newer version of Sabrina now that I know about it.

I will miss you! Your posts are short and pithy (I love that word!). They always makes me smile (and I often learn stuff). Enjoy your break. I have been sorely disappointed in the TV “Christmas” shows. With the exception of NCIS, most have been dark and violent. I like upbeat and happy as a way to go on hiatus until January. That’s exactly what you did!

I listened to a podcast by a fellow blogger last month about his story writing. Very fun.
I don’t have a working TV, but I have Netflix. The only show I watch is The Great British Baking Show. Talk about brain candy! Okay, maybe it wouldn’t qualify as such. But it’s so soothing to watch.

I haven’t seen all of The Great British Baking Shows, but the ones I have seen I enjoyed. The competition is fierce, but polite. And the results put my baking attempts to shame. I need to watch more of those shows.

Akilah, I find that I like some brain candy TV shows that allow me to just be. Many TV shows have complicated plot lines + complex characters and that’s good, but occasionally just vegging in front of the TV works for me. I’m sorry you’ve had a rough year. And am therefore happy for you that it’s almost over. That podcast does sound fascinating, but also frightening. I’m afraid to listen. Why was he called the Happy Face killer? I’d never heard of him.
I too love Monk and Psych. May need to check out The Good Cop.

Betsy, I didn’t know anything about this serial killer until I stumbled upon this podcast. He was called the Happy Face killer because he taunted the police with letters in which he drew a happy face.
The podcast focuses on his daughter trying to understand who she is today. There are interviews with people from her past, newspaper reporters, the police, and occasionally with him from prison. He fooled people, murdered women, and still tries to psychologically torment his daughter today. The podcast is like nothing I’ve ever heard before.
The Good Cop, on the other hand, is pure brain candy. Very light.
