Then The Rain Gutter Fell Off The Back Of The House

And Zen-Den* said: “It’s all good.”

And K the House Painter** said: “It’s all good.”

And I*** said: “NOOOOOOO!!!”

* He’s nuts, of course.  But he did manage to get the sales guy from the gutter company to come over to the house;  talk with the sales guy as he evaluated the damage caused by the heavy rain & high winds that ripped the gutter off of the house;  and sign a contract to have this company replace the fallen gutter.

Good job, Z-D.

**  He’s wise, of course.  First of all he’s already been to the house to cover the damaged gutter with tarps and received cash for his efforts.  Secondly, he’ll be the first person I call after the new gutter is in place because the new gutter & new wood will need to be painted the color of the house.

Once more.

***  I’m ticked, of course.  Because for the first time in years the exterior of our house is all the same color.  Plus, do you realize how much moolah this will cost us?  Hint: a 3-day roundtrip luxury resort getaway to Montego Bay, Jamaica, costs less than this will.  Hint: a new Apple 13-inch MacBook Pro with the latest operating system, Yosemite, costs less than this will.  So what am I telling you here?

Expensive.

FEELING:  organized.  centered.  jovial.  ready to have a productive and fun weekend.  nice weather predicted.  a neglected garden to weed.  a new vegetarian recipe to try.

HEARING:  with the windows open, traffic from the interstate.  going fast.  no sirens.  just a nice lull in the background.

TASTING:  water.  cold.  fresh.  keeping me hydrated as I seat here typing.  adding vitality to my life.

SEEING:  trees with red leaves on a few of the branches.  green grass tinged with a bit of gold.  blue skies with white clouds.  a relaxing natural color palette indicative of change.

SMELLING:  a new parfum called fresh life.  its scent has lingered in the air after I applied a dab of it from a sample card onto my wrist.  light floral.  citrus-ish.  clean.

Simply Wonderful: Fall Is Here

I tend to overthink things.  I don’t know if that comes to me naturally or if it was instilled in me as a child through well-meaning adults.  Doesn’t matter.  What is, is.

I’d been pondering my tendency to overthink when I happened to see this Cary Grant quote.  It seemed like the perfect mantra to adopt during my favorite season of the year.  Why not think less?  Keep life simple.  Occupy myself more with doing.

Later while surfing the net, I stumbled upon this Paulo Coelho quote, which reinforced my newfound desire to live simply.  I mean, who doesn’t want to find the extraordinary things?  I can do that.  I’ll be wise

So it is with the foregoing in mind that I’ve decided to groove on simplicity for the next few months.  I don’t know exactly what that means, but I figure if the Universe has gone out of its way to make sure that I get this “simplify” message, then the message is important.  Hallelujah, eh?  Make it so.
