Yesterday, on a whim, as I was heading home I decided to stop and take some photos of a canoe rental place that I drive by from time to time. The place was deserted, but the sun was shining brightly and there was a certain charm to the emptiness.

I always wonder how this place stays in business, yet every spring it reappears. Just like daffodils in the garden or major league baseball on the radio. Gotta love it– even if I never, ever want to go canoeing!

I like your photos. The first one makes me think of teen slasher movies – or maybe it’s just the season. “Don’t go in there!”

Love the photos! The canoes are so colorful and there’s something about weathered wood that is just so appealing.

Zazzy, the whole area was a bit like a teen slasher movie. Just me wandering around wondering if anyone even noticed that I was there. But it was too beautiful outside to not stop and take a few photos.
Beth, the canoes were so bright in the sun. I took another photo where the canoes are a lime green shade that is the exact color of the bushes beside them. The place was a photographer’s dream, but it was a bit spooky to be there by myself.

Very cool photos! I love all the color of the canoe photos, and the starkness of the empty parking lot. I also like the sign photo a lot. Weathered wood is very appealing to me, too.

Hi alejna, thanks for stopping by. Glad that you like the photos. I wish that I could of taken some more closer to the river, but being by myself I didn’t want to get too close to it and accidentally fall in. I’m not the most coordinated person, you know!

I would rent one of those canoes if that little bear was allowed to ride along with me. I would sit him up in the front of the canoe because I don’t think he can hold an oar. Can’t you see us both floating majestically down the river? The bear, with his nose pointed pridefully up in the air, king of all that he sees. This is as it should be since The Cowardly Lion got it all wrong; the king of the forest is not the lion but the bear. The lion is only king of the African plains.

la p, what a charming idea. I’d stand by the side of the river and take your photo. Just you and the wooden bear in a little canoe while the sun was shining all around. 😉

Thanks Zen-Den. The bright sunshine made it look quaint… instead of ratty. It’s weird back in there. The next time I go there you’re coming with me.
