The “Randomness” Meme

Cheri of Naples Girl Blog tagged me with this randomness meme.  Fun, huh?  But me being me, I will play along… to a point.  I tend to make up my own rules when it comes to memes.  So here we go, okay?

The REVISED Rules:

  • First, post these rules on your blog.
  • Second, post 11 random things about yourself.
  • Third, answer the questions posed to you by the blogger of the blog where you first read this meme.
  • Last, create 11 new questions for any blogger who chooses to do this meme next.
  • No need to tag anyone on your blog or on twitter.  Those bloggers who want to do this meme should do it [linking back to original source, of course]… and those bloggers who don’t want to do this meme should not do it [forgetting that they ever knew it existed].

  1. Fun! I’ve kinda missed memes in recent years. Maybe I will do this…

How did you end up playing violin so long if you didn’t like it? Did your parents make you continue? Or your school? Did you ever miss it after you gave it up? Did you ever like playing the violin? Did you ever try another instrument? (I have reasons for asking that are really more about me. And my kids…)

    • alejna, at first I liked playing the violin.

I was part of a Suzuki gifted child music program so we got lots of personal attention with specially trained teachers. But our school system wasn’t rich so as I got older, I had lessons with teachers who didn’t know the Suzuki method… and the violin wasn’t so interesting to me anymore.

However, my parents didn’t care that I didn’t want to play the violin anymore so I continued with it until I could end it myself. I was a very cooperative child– too much so as I look back on things.

I’ve never regretted not playing it anymore. I had learned all that I needed to know about the violin.

And yes, I did play some other instruments. I played the clarinet in marching band and the alto clarinet in concert band. I also took some guitar lessons, but was horrible at that instrument so no one pressed me to continue.

  4. I needed something to write today! Can you believe it took me all day? I was a pretty cooperative child, too, but I regret giving up dance and piano. I occasionally consider taking adult piano lessons.

  5. Zazzy, I think once the word “random” entered my brain all hope for “organized” was lost. So, I can believe that it took you all day!

Maybe you could take piano lessons while taking dance lessons. Multi-tasking, as it were. 😉

  6. Margaret, for me it’s interesting to be random like this. And answering somone else’s questions is in some ways easier to do than to write down my own thoughts. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do.

  7. i love the verse from psalms, thanks for sharing it; i don’t think it’s ever stood out to me before. and i too am a fan of glee – it’s fantastic!

  8. ellie, interesting how different lines from the Bible stick with a person, isn’t it? Happy to meet another person who likes Glee. It’s hilarious and entertaining.
