In Which Agnes Reminds Me Of Me

•  This comic strip has made my day.

•  Like Agnes, I can say anything with too many words, if need be.  Got me through grad school.  Not so useful in real life.

•  And like Agnes, I wanted a pair of cowgirl boots.  [Yippie-Yi-Yo-Ki-Yay]  But, alas and alack, it was not to be.

•  Yet, in my heart-of-hearts, I’m still Agnes– looking for the popularity “heaped upon those who are shod thusly.”

  1. Margaret, “thusly” is my new fav word. I plan on using whenever possible henceforth. 🙂

Beth, I may have the vocabulary, but you have always been a much better speller than I am. I think your skill is much more useful in the real world.

  2. I also like “thusly.” I like all those funky transition words: thusly, hithertofore, ergo. My students tell me that no one uses those words except the English majors. And then the English majors and I high-five. Because we’re awesome like that.
