I have hit a new low in blogging.
Putting aside the fact that I’ve never written a word about wind chimes until today, I think that it is fair to say that this spammer took a very dim view of one of my blog posts. I’ve never received such a sad piece of spam before. Most of my spam is of the “great job” variety, so the unhappiness described in this piece of spam is almost too much for me.
I feel the angst.
But here’s what confuses me: why is this piece of spam telling me about some clunky, un-melodic wind chimes? I had nothing to do with the wind chimes. It’s almost as if this piece of spam was written without anyone actually reading what I wrote… as if there is no correlation between my content and the spam comment… as if this spammer doesn’t care about me at all.
Oh dear! That couldn’t be it, could it? 😉
It probably makes more sense in its original Klingon.

Indeed. That explains it.

Stunning, Zen-Den! This is about the sixth time I have pressed GO only to find you got there milliseconds ahead of me! It’s uncanny! Ally being your wife, I guess you get precedence, it’s just weird how many times this happens to me. 🙂

And now I’m signed in as Caughtwriting? So my last comment will make little sense unless you know that Caughtwriting is Polly. There is something truly spooky going on today, real Twilight Zone stuff.

Polly, I know who you are regardless of which account you use. Thanks for commenting. Feel free to use whichever account you like. We’re very flexible about such things here at The Spectacled Bean.

Polly, I don’t know how he does it either. I barely hit PUBLISH and he has a comment. It makes one wonder if he really is working or just goofing off at work, doesn’t it?

This is probably the best explanation possible!

At least this is better than the abusive ones I was getting for a while there (and they seem to have started up again in the last week or so). I get loads of spam completely unrelated to anything – in fact sometimes the words are completely unrelated to one another. At least this one is coherent. It seems that spammers have just run out of pleasant, coherent things to say. Maybe this is the future of spamming…?

Polly, most of my spam is gibberish– clearly without any connection to what I wrote. But this piece seemed to be telling me something important, which made me laugh at myself and at the comment.

My favorite spam comment lately: Hi there, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam comments? If so how do you stop it, any plugin or anything you can recommend? I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any support is very much appreciated.
Almost makes me want to publish it.

Zazzy, that is delightful. Sincere & well-written. Too bad that it’s spam.

I, too, have been frustrated by the growing frequency of spam. What’s up with that??

Relyn, I wish I knew the answer to that question. My only thought is that the spam is following the trail of NaBloPoMo. For me, spam went up once I declared that I was doing the challenge. Yet another reason why, if I do it again, I’ll do NaBloPoMo freelance.

I think it’s Christmas – most of my current spam is linked to north face and other products.

Zazzy, that could be the answer. Works for me.

Title of this post describes my life just now, but tomorrow is another day, and I refuse to give up. I HAVE made a wind chime, and it even sounds pretty good. To Hell w/that spammer 🙂

rachal, I’ve never even thought of making wind chimes. I’m impressed that you have. I’m sure that your chimes would please my spammer!

This is absolutely the best resource for windchime reviews on the web. Your site is my go-to for all my windchime information needs. I tell all my friends and co-workers about your windchime information, and they all want to buy me breakfast. This morning alone, 6 of my co-workers treated me to breakfast while we raved about your phenomenal windchime wisdom. Also, my husband and I wondered if you could tell us why the fog light on our Subaru keeps going out.

You sound like spam… & yet I know otherwise! If your current career doesn’t pan out, you could always get a job as a spam copywriter. Please feel free to use me as a reference.

I’ve been writing some pretty painful stuff lately, so when I get spam it does NOT amuse me. Instead, it enrages me.

Margaret, you get spam on what you write?!! I’m amazed. I cannot fathom why spammers would bother you. I’m sure that the spam does anger you. And rightfully so.
