Pretty, huh?

A perfect day for me to make a pot of chili + a pone of corn bread.

And a salad of spring greens, candied walnuts, dried cranberries & blue cheese crumbles.

With homemade walnut oil vinaigrette, of course.

And perhaps a bottle of beer?

Lord knows that after the party that wasn’t, we have enough of them sitting in our garage.

 😉

  1. I’d love to be there too! The salad sounds gorgous and something I must try. If we had that much snow here, I wouldn’t be able to get the car out, and possibly all the planes at Heathrow would be grounded too. We don’t do snow very well in this country 😦 Very pretty pictures.

    • Polly, I’m sorry that you can’t come to my impromptu chili party, too. But do try the salad, it is easy and tasty.

Having lived [briefly] in England I can understand how snow could cause everything to stop. Depending on where you are in the USA snow is no big deal OR a reason to cancel everything. Guess you can figure out where we live!

    • Zazzy, I’m with you. Enough of the snow already!

For the artistic photo I used my flash and a setting on my camera called “SCENE.” Can’t say that I knew what I was doing when I snapped it, but it came out cool– so I had to stick it on the blog.

  2. You just made me laugh SO LOUD to your comment on my blog that I spit wine out of my mouth. (Not beer.) Hey, even though it says you live in suburbia, your pictures look just like our woods! Nice to meet you, Spectacled Bean.

    • Kathy, sorry you wasted some wine because of me, but loved what you had to say once I caught on to the subject matter. I really was confused at first.

As for the photos, we live on a wooded ravine lot in suburbia. It has its pros and cons, but overall I like it. Especially when I can take photos like these standing in the doorway in my jammies.

  3. Oh, ally! I’m finally catching up, and yikes! We up here in NEO got nothing but a trace. Keep it down there, please, but I’m sorry about your party. You’ll be eating dip for weeks. Lovely to photograph, all that snow, but hell to shovel and to drive in.

    • nance, this much snowfall down here is unusual for this time of year. If it were February, I wouldn’t even mention it. [Well that’s not true. I’d mention it in a post complaining about it. Just wait & see!]

But to have all this snow + ice in December is weird. And who wants to start shoveling sidewalks before Christmas? It’s not right, I tell ‘ya.

  4. Just saw this post. The pictures are gorgeous! Chili is definitely a snowy day meal. And very nice that you can keep the beers cold in the garage.
